Mineral analysis
Minerals extracted from the earth’s interior are classified as mineral raw materials, which include more than 200 minerals that differ from each other in physical form, composition, application and other characteristics. There is no single system for classifying mineral resources; they are classified by type of use and by state of aggregation.
Mineral resources by type of use:
Fuel (oil, gas, coal, peat, oil shale, etc.);
Ore (iron, manganese, titanium, aluminum, copper, tin, etc.);
Non-metallic (granite, limestone, quartz sand, asbestos, graphite, marble, etc.).
Mineral resources can vary in state and are divided into:
Liquid (oil, mineral water);
Solid (salt, coal, marble);
Gaseous (methane, helium, combustible gases).
Mineral enrichment (processing) involves several processes for separating raw materials from waste rock and separating valuable minerals. Enrichment can produce both end products (asbestos, graphite) and concentrates that can be processed chemically or metallurgically.
Mineral raw materials undergo three operations: preparatory, main, and auxiliary. Preparatory processes include crushing and grinding, screening, and classification. The main processes consist of separating one or more useful components (enrichment). The final (auxiliary) processes are pulp thickening, dewatering, and drying (depending on the characteristics of the material).
Main areas of activity:
Conducting research and development work on the development and improvement of technologies for ferrous, non-ferrous, rare and precious metals, non-metallic raw materials, standardization, methodological support for primary and auxiliary methods of enrichment of primary raw materials and chemical-metallurgical processing of enrichment products. Solving environmental safety issues related to the processing of mineral raw materials;
Conducting complex and unique laboratory studies of the technological properties of non-traditional types of mineral raw materials;
